the da vinci code - my spoil-free/short review
last night we had an employee screening for da vinci. i feel the need to post a quick blog because it has been getting terrible reviews. i usually don't read reviews until after i have seen a movie, but since this is our movie...i quickly heard how poorly it was received and i couldn't help but take a peek.i just want to say that i really enjoyed the movie - and i am not saying that just because it's columbia!! i thought da vinci was so much fun and reminded me how much i enjoyed reading the book. i don't want to give away too much (not that i can if you've read the book), but don't get discouraged by the reviews! they are mostly just cranky-sleep-deprived-snobby-cannes-people anyway. :)
i am going to see it AGAIN tonight at midnight, as i had already reserved tickets at the arclight dome before i knew about the employee screening. i'm looking forward to it!
i hope everyone has a great weekend! it's finally warm and sunny in LA.
love,
mary

Help my daughter keep her job! See the Da Vinci Code!
I actually enjoyed the movie. I had read the book quite a while ago, and had forgotten much, so it was fun to watch the movie and recall the story line. I wonder if someone who has not read the book will be able to follow. It seems rather complicated.
I also thought the acting was great. Tom Hanks, hey, what can you say? Gotta love him. And I like the guy 'The Professional' dude, and all those other French speakers. I thought that the movie's treatment of language was good. So often you get these phony English accents that totally ruin any authenticity.
It is long, and I thought it was going to end several times before it did. Guess I had forgotten the ending. For those of us who remember the good old days in the Church, you'll enjoy recognizing some of the old ways.
By the way, little know fact, but I was invited to join Opus Dei when I was in high school. Wasn't really into flogging at that time, so I decided instead to become a Commie.

thanks dad! we are definitely struggling with the $225M opening weekend... ;)
i watched ENRON: THE SMARTEST GUYS IN THE ROOM last night. pretty timely since they were just found guilty today! there is justice. it was a really interesting documentary...incredibly infuriating though.
Hmm I love the idea behind this website, very unique.
